Project Description

“From southern New Jersey, I fell in love with Tennessee while studying ceramics at Union University in Jackson, TN. Soon after, I moved to Nashville and have been trying to stay connected to the art community here ever since. I have a passion for building community, and for the past fourteen years, I have taught pottery classes at local community centers here through Metro Parks. I now serve as the Director of Centennial Art Center where I continue to help build community through the arts.”

“My own clay work is a mix between functional stoneware and expressive figurative sculpture. Although my sculptural work is done primarily with clay, I often include ‘found objects’ (discarded items from construction sites, demolitions, etc.) in my sculptures. This element of “re-use/recycle” in with my artwork is a process that affects how I live and keeps me more mindful of the earth–it helps me be a better steward of what we have.”
