The Clay Lady’s Campus is preparing for their 10th annual Cups of Co-Opportunity fundraiser, benefitting Borderless Arts Tennessee on Saturday morning, February 22, 2020, from 7:30-11:30am. The Clay Lady’s Campus Artists spend several months making and firing over 300 cups that will be donated for this event. For a contribution of only $25 you will be able to pick from a diverse selection of cups and then fill it with a hot beverage. You can sip your coffee or hot cocoa while visiting artists in their studios, play a board game and enjoy entertainment from Borderless Arts. During this event, artists will unload our gas kiln at 9:00 am with new mugs available. There will be cups and mugs of every shape and size.
The money raised during Cups of Co-opportunity goes directly to Borderless Arts, a non-profit organization supporting art opportunities for artists with disabilities. Cups of Co-opportunity is their largest one-day fundraiser. The funds will be used to support an upcoming trip to the United Nations in New York City.
Borderless Arts works with artists locally and internationally; in 2018 they performed in an International Art Forum in Egypt in front of 5,000 people at The University of Cairo. BA artists designed and created the costumes. Because of this connection, they have been invited to participate in a briefing with the United Nations Disability Inclusion. BA will be taking 9 artists to the UN to share information about their work and their international exchanges. They will tour the United Nations and participate in an art activity at the Guggenheim Museum.
Quote from Borderless Arts founding member: “Borderless Arts teaches me (& my pals) how to bring imagination to life, giving me the strength to tell my story and meet with people. It is hard for me to believe that I used to be a little girl who couldn’t speak and now I am looking forward to being onstage and speaking about art. These activities make me feel like I belong and am not alone.”
During this event, BA artists will be performing music and have their artwork on display. Join us to support a good cause and be a part of an international community of artists, one cup at a time!
